Climbing Cotopaxi

Cotopoxi 19,346 feet tall, the tallest active volcano in the world. Legend states that it erupts every one hundred years and the last time she erupted was 1890. About the 18,000 foot mark there is one of the most beautiful ice glaciers in the world and that was my goal for that day.

Botswana Scare!

Today was an exciting day, we left early this morning from Johannesburg driving northwest to Gaborone. We followed a dirt road out of Gaborone heading northeast attempting to find a nice location along the Limpopo River for animal watching.

Amazon journey

Along the beach as we loaded our canoe we were literally attacked by wooly monkeys attempting to get into our packs. The monkeys frequent this area of the river knowing that this is where the traders boats are docked and they hope to be able to steal some food or sometimes cameras as I found out.

A West Africa Village

The Chief Gabangudana gave us a hut or small compound to sleep in and the villagers flooded us with gifts of food and pigeons to eat. One evening we gathered around and they drummed and danced under the stars, what a great experience!

Climbing Kilimanjaro

I enjoy watching all the different people from different parts of the world shuffle through the Cairo airport, although I am very excited about getting on my way to Nairobi. I am flying Egypt Air, known for their tardiness. Finally 4:30am I am on the plane and taking off due south for beautiful Kenya.
